Nagpur, Maharashtra, India
Amid the political controversy surrounding a viral video featuring AJUP founder Humayun Kabir, Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar strongly criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging that it is relying on divisive issues to influence voters.
Speaking in Nagpur, Vijay Wadettiwar said that the BJP is using religious narratives to create polarisation during elections. He claimed that when political parties fail to gain support on the basis of development, they shift focus to issues such as Hindu Muslim divisions, temples, mosques, and India Pakistan debates.
He alleged that “playing the Hindu Muslim card to foster polarisation is the BJP’s agenda,” suggesting that such strategies are used to gain electoral advantage.
Wadettiwar further stated that instead of focusing on development, efforts are made to influence voters by invoking sensitive and emotional topics. According to him, this approach diverts attention from governance related issues.
The remarks come in the backdrop of the viral video involving Humayun Kabir, which has triggered reactions from multiple political leaders and parties. The issue has added to the already intense political environment, with leaders making strong statements and counter statements.
He claimed that votes are being sought by raising issues related to religion and international tensions, rather than by highlighting development work.
It is important to note that these statements are political allegations made by a party leader, and there has been no official confirmation or response from the BJP regarding these specific claims.
The political discourse in Maharashtra and West Bengal continues to remain highly charged, with parties using various issues to shape their narratives ahead of elections.
Wadettiwar’s statement reflects the broader political contest where parties accuse each other of using divisive tactics, while positioning themselves as focused on development and governance.
As the controversy evolves, more reactions are expected from different political leaders, further intensifying the debate and shaping the political narrative in the coming days.
