Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Tuesday reflected on the organisation’s century-long journey, emphasizing that its growth and influence have been driven entirely by the commitment and hard work of its volunteers.
Addressing an event in Nagpur, Bhagwat underlined that the RSS has evolved into a significant force shaping the nation’s direction through sustained grassroots efforts. “The entire work of the Sangh is built on the hard work of its volunteers. It was not done by anyone’s grace, nor was it stopped by anyone’s indifference,” he said.
He highlighted that the organisation’s strength lies in the sense of ownership among its members. According to him, volunteers have always treated the RSS as their own institution and contributed selflessly toward its growth. “Accepting the Sangh as their own, all the volunteers devoted their entire energies to building a unified nation in accordance with its ideology,” Bhagwat stated.
The RSS chief noted that this consistent dedication over decades has enabled the organisation to complete nearly a century of its existence while continuing to expand its influence across different spheres of society. “After completing a hundred years, the Sangh stands today as a force guiding the nation’s direction,” he remarked.
Bhagwat also reflected on the historical journey of the organisation, suggesting that its story is one of perseverance and inspiration. “If this history were to be written, it would be not only thrilling but also inspiring,” he added, pointing to the challenges and achievements that have shaped the RSS over time.
Founded in 1925, the RSS has played a significant role in India’s socio-political landscape, with a large network of volunteers engaged in various social, cultural, and national activities. The organisation has often highlighted its focus on nation-building, social service, and cultural unity.
Bhagwat’s remarks come at a time when the RSS is marking milestones related to its long-standing presence in the country. Events and discussions around its history, ideology, and contributions have been taking place across different parts of India.
Political observers note that the RSS continues to remain an influential organisation, particularly due to its ideological connections with several groups and its extensive grassroots network.
The RSS chief’s address underscores the organisation’s emphasis on volunteer-driven growth and its vision of contributing to national unity, while reflecting on its legacy as it approaches a century of existence.
