Nagpur, Maharashtra, India

Amid political developments surrounding the Baramati Assembly by-election, NCP Working President Praful Patel has appealed to all political parties to allow the election to be held unopposed as a mark of respect and tribute.

Speaking in Nagpur, Praful Patel said that the by-election is being conducted following the demise of senior leader Ajit Pawar, and emphasized that the situation calls for political unity and sensitivity. He urged parties across the political spectrum to come together and avoid contesting the election.

He further stated that Sunetra Pawar, who is contesting the by-election, is expected to win, but the focus should be on honoring Ajit Pawar’s legacy rather than engaging in political competition.

He appealed that the Baramati by-election should be conducted unopposed as a tribute to Ajit Dada, requesting cooperation from all political parties.

Praful Patel highlighted that in the past, there have been instances in Maharashtra politics where elections were left uncontested in similar circumstances as a gesture of respect. He suggested that following such a tradition would send a strong message of unity and dignity in public life.

He emphasized that this is not just a political event but an emotional moment, and that all parties should show respect by supporting an uncontested election.

The Baramati constituency holds significant political importance in Maharashtra and has been closely associated with prominent political leadership over the years. The by-election has drawn attention not only due to its political implications but also because of the circumstances under which it is being held.

While Praful Patel’s appeal reflects a call for consensus, it remains to be seen how other political parties respond, as decisions regarding contesting elections are often based on broader political strategies.

With discussions underway and appeals for unity being made, the Baramati by-election has become a focal point of political attention in Maharashtra, balancing both political considerations and sentiments of respect.
