NMC Launches Citywide Inspection of Building Projects in Nagpur

Date:

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has initiated a fresh inspection drive to verify whether residential and commercial buildings are complying with their approved building plans, with a special focus on the use of AC plant rooms.

The move comes amid complaints that some developers allegedly converted designated service areas into unauthorised spaces after obtaining project approvals.

According to civic officials, AC plant rooms are approved as service areas under sanctioned building plans.

However, complaints suggest that in some projects these spaces may have been converted into areas serving purposes other than those approved by the municipal authorities.

The inspection aims to verify whether buildings comply with the permissions granted during the approval process.

NMC has stated that if any project is found violating its sanctioned building plan, appropriate action may be initiated under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act, 1966.

The civic body has also appealed to:

  • Builders
  • Developers
  • Property owners

to fully cooperate with the inspection teams during the survey.

The inspection drive is expected to increase scrutiny of ongoing and completed real estate projects in Nagpur.

For prospective homebuyers, it highlights the importance of verifying whether a project has been constructed according to the approved building plan before making a purchase.

Checking project approvals, sanctioned layouts, and occupancy-related documents can help buyers make informed property decisions.

The survey reflects NMC’s efforts to strengthen compliance with approved construction norms and curb unauthorised alterations in buildings.

If violations are detected, developers may be required to address non-compliance in accordance with applicable regulations.

The initiative is also expected to encourage greater transparency and adherence to sanctioned plans across future projects in the city.
