In a concerning development, Nagpur Police have recovered explosive materials from a location within the city, prompting an ongoing investigation into their origin and purpose.
Nagpur City Commissioner of Police Ravinder Kumar Singal confirmed that the materials were discovered in a suspicious condition. “Some explosives, in stick form, were found… additionally, around fifty electronic detonators and eight switches were found separately,” he stated, providing details of the recovery.
According to the police, such materials are typically used in construction-related activities. However, the presence of these items in an unattended location has raised serious concerns, leading authorities to launch a detailed probe.
Upon receiving information about the discovery, the police immediately reached the spot and initiated standard security protocols. Specialized units, including the dog squad and forensic teams, were deployed to assess the situation. “We called the dog unit and the FSL… they have verified all of this,” the Commissioner said, confirming that the materials have been examined by experts.
Initial findings suggest that the explosives had been lying at the site for several days. “The explosives had been lying there for several days, inside a plastic bag,” Singal noted, indicating that the materials may have been abandoned or improperly stored.
Addressing speculation regarding the proximity of sensitive locations, the Commissioner clarified that there appears to be no immediate connection to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh headquarters. “The RSS headquarters is quite far from there, so I don’t think there’s any connection to it,” he added, urging caution against drawing premature conclusions.
Police officials are now focusing on tracing the source of the explosives and determining how they ended up at the location. Investigators are examining various angles, including possible construction use, unauthorized storage, or other factors.
Authorities have assured that the situation is under control, but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing to uncover the full details behind the incident. The recovery has heightened vigilance in the area, with security agencies maintaining a close watch as inquiries continue.
