“Congress Should Withdraw Candidate”: Bawankule on Baramati Bypoll, Predicts BJP Gains…

Nagpur, Maharashtra, India

Amid political developments surrounding the Baramati Assembly by-election in Maharashtra, senior BJP leader Chandrashekhar Bawankule has appealed to the Congress party to withdraw its candidate and support NCP leader Sunetra Pawar, while also expressing confidence in the BJP’s prospects in other states.

Speaking in Nagpur, Bawankule urged opposition parties to ensure an uncontested victory in Baramati. “On behalf of BJP, I request the Congress to withdraw their candidate and help Sunetra Pawar win unopposed. The CM and all other parties are also saying this,” he said, referring to calls from sections of the ruling alliance for consensus in the bypoll.

He added a strong political warning, suggesting consequences if the Congress chooses to remain in the contest. “If the Congress does not do this, it will be on the path towards its destruction,” Bawankule remarked, intensifying the political tone around the by-election.

The Baramati bypoll has gained attention due to its political significance in Maharashtra, with multiple parties closely watching the developments. The seat is considered important in the state’s political landscape, and the appeal for an uncontested election reflects attempts by the ruling alliance to consolidate support.

Beyond Maharashtra, Bawankule also expressed confidence in the BJP’s electoral performance in other parts of the country. “BJP will register a big win in Assam and Kerala,” he said, indicating the party’s optimism ahead of upcoming elections in these states.

His remarks come at a time when political parties are actively strategizing for elections across multiple regions, with alliances, candidate selections, and campaign narratives taking center stage.

The Congress has not officially responded to Bawankule’s appeal so far. Political observers note that the likelihood of a withdrawal remains uncertain, given the competitive nature of elections and the stakes involved for all parties.

Bawankule’s statements highlight both the strategic maneuvering around the Baramati by-election and the BJP’s broader confidence as it prepares for electoral contests across key states.
