Nagpur, Maharashtra : Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident in Nashik that claimed nine lives, including children, after a car carrying a family reportedly fell into a well located along the road. Addressing the incident, he termed it one of the most painful losses, especially due to the death of young children.
“It is a very tragic incident. On their way back, a car carrying small children and their parents fell into a well. The loss of young lives is the greatest sorrow one can imagine,” Fadnavis said, conveying his condolences to the bereaved families.
According to initial information, the accident occurred when the vehicle, while returning from a journey, lost control and plunged into a well that was reportedly situated in the middle of the road. The unusual and hazardous placement of the well has raised serious concerns about public safety and infrastructure oversight.
The Chief Minister stated that senior leader Girish Mahajan had briefed him about the incident, following which immediate action was initiated. He confirmed that the state government has announced financial assistance for the families of the victims, acknowledging the gravity of the loss.
“Since the well is in the middle of the road, I have ordered an immediate audit to determine what measures can be taken, and action has already been directed,” he added, stressing the need for accountability and preventive measures.
Authorities have begun an investigation into how such a dangerous structure existed on or near a public road without adequate safeguards. The audit is expected to identify similar जोखिम-prone spots and recommend corrective actions to prevent such tragedies in the future.
