India Begins Digital Census 2027, Leaders Lead Self Enumeration Drive !!

Date:

India has taken a historic step forward with the launch of the first phase of Census 2027, introducing a digital self enumeration system for the very first time. The phase focuses on house listing and housing operations, allowing citizens to submit their details online through a dedicated portal.

On the very first day, several top leaders participated in the process, setting an example for citizens across the country. These included Droupadi Murmu, C. P. Radhakrishnan, Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah. The participation took place at key locations such as Rashtrapati Bhavan and Uprashtrapati Bhavan.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared that he had completed the self enumeration process and emphasized its importance in strengthening governance. He stated that the census will play a vital role in ensuring that development reaches every section of society.

He urged citizens to cooperate fully with census officials and also encouraged them to use the online self enumeration facility, calling it a national responsibility.

President Droupadi Murmu also participated in the process by filling out her household details digitally. The exercise was conducted in the presence of senior officials, reflecting the seriousness and importance of the initiative.

Her participation highlighted confidence in the digital system and reinforced the message that every citizen’s contribution matters.

The response on the first day itself was significant. Around 55,000 households from eight States and Union Territories made use of the facility, including regions like Odisha, Karnataka, and Goa. This early participation indicates growing acceptance of digital governance among citizens.

The self enumeration process will remain open until April 15, after which field verification will be carried out by officials to ensure accuracy.

This combination of digital submission and physical verification aims to create a reliable, transparent, and efficient system of data collection. The initiative has also been actively promoted, encouraging people to use the 15 day window to submit their details easily and contribute to national development.

This digital census marks a major shift in India’s governance approach, where technology and citizen participation come together to shape the future.

Overall, the beginning of Census 2027 represents not just a data collection exercise, but a step towards more inclusive and efficient planning for the country’s growth
